Pregnant women are reporting miscarriages after H1N1 vaccine

Do you wonder why most mainstream media outlets take a surprisingly uniform position on the issue of H1N1 vaccination - not asking the right questions or putting their investigative skills to work - while sounding more like pharmaceuticals' and the government's own PR? All we hear is how CDC wished they had more vaccines and they are working hard on getting them out to everyone, who should feel fortunate to finally roll up their sleeves. Lately, it's looking more like the media's role as the conscience of the nation has been passed over to the blogosphere and few independent on-line media outlets. In the process millions of people are skillfully brainwashed to fuel the manufactured demand for hundreds of millions of H1N1 vaccines, ordered by our government.

While vaccines may be beneficial in preventing complications and death for some people, most will weather the flu with mild symptoms and be back on their feet in 2-3 days. Obesity, smoking and other underlying conditions put people in a greater danger of complications. What puts pregnant women at risk is the greater stress on the lungs from the fetus. While most pregnant women will be fine, this and other risk factors may become a cause for concern. However, there are other issues to consider, such as vaccine effectiveness, safety and side effects, which may result in worse outcomes than a few days with a flu.

What most media fails to mention (except for some linked below), is that:

- H1N1 had lower than average mortality during Southern hemisphere's winter

" Mortality from the pandemic appeared to be relatively low. Most countries reported mortality rates of less than one per 100 000 population. There is evidence from New South Wales that excess mortality from influenza and pneumonia over the period of the pandemic was less than in previous years"

- A few weeks after the first cases found in April 2009, WHO declared level 5 emergency situation, then in May changed the definition of "pandemic" to exclude "high mortality", and then went to level 6 in June

"WHO, for example, for years defined pandemics as outbreaks causing "enormous numbers of deaths and illness," but in early May, removed this phrase from the definition."

- The extent of the outbreak is overstated by including the cases of regular flu and colds with flu-like symptoms, as labs stopped verifying each H1N1 case in August

"In August 2009, CBS News made a simple request of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for public documents, e-mails and other materials CDC used to communicate to states the decision to stop testing individual cases of Novel H1N1, or “swine flu.” When the public affairs folks at CDC refused to produce the documents and quit responding to my queries altogether, I filed a formal Freedom of Information (FOI) request for the materials. Members of the news media are entitled to expedited access, which I requested, since this was for a pending news report and on an issue of public health and interest. The Obama administration made a commitment to a “new era of open government,” as stated in a presidential memorandum on the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Two months after my FOI request, the CDC has yet to produce any of these easily retrievable materials. Sadly, this is of little surprise. This has become standard operating procedure in Washington." - Sharyl Attkisson, CBS

As a result, most people are diagnosed with "suspected" H1N1, which is sometimes even done over the phone.

- The severity of symptoms and chances of death are not worse than that of regular flu

- The vast majority of people with complications after the flu have underlying health conditions, such as diabietes or lung a and heart problems, caused by obesity (66% of US population) and/or smoking

- Repeated flu vaccinations strip the body of it's natural immunity

"Human populations may have some level of existing immunity to the pandemic H1N1 influenza and may explain why the 2009 H1N1-related symptoms have been generally mild"

- Flu shots are not effective

In a review of more than 51 studies involving more than 294,000 children it was found there was “no evidence that injecting children 6-24 months of age with a flu shot was any more effective than placebo. In children over 2 yrs, it was only effective 33% of the time in preventing the flu. Reference: Vaccines for preventing influenza in healthy children." The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. 2 (2008)

(click to read more about adult and elderly studies)

- Doctors, pharmacies, and pharmaceutical companies profit very well from a multi-billion vaccine industry

"Doctors collect copayments for special office visits to inject shots, and there have been assertions that these doctors actually profit handsomely from these vaccinations" - ABC news

- There are concerns that some of the H1N1 vaccines contain the same ingredients as proposed human anti-fertility vaccine and/or veterinary anti-fertility vaccines, which make your body create antibodies and 'attack' the pregnancy hormone hCG, causing a miscarriage (more links and info in the comments to the article linked above)

- There are claims that vaccine manufacturers have "Red" and "Green" lists for European governments listing information that may or may not be made available to the public regarding the side effects

The benefits of healthy diet, Vitamin D, eliminating immune-suppressive sugar, balancing your body weight, exercising, getting enough sleep and breastfeeding your babies are nature's tools to help protect us from viruses.

Instead a vaccine will give your body a bouquet of cancer-causing, neurotoxic chemicals, that will remain in your body and can manifest themselves in health problems ranging from ADD to brain tumors years or decades after the vaccine is administered:

- Monosodium glutamate - known neurotoxin and excitotoxin

- Neomycin - in the FDA pregnancy category D, or known to be harmful to fetuses

- Beta-propiolactone - a disinfectant.

According to the EPA: "No information is available on the chronic (long-term), reproductive, developmental, or carcinogenic effects of beta-propiolactone in humans. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified beta-propiolactone as a Group 2B, possible human carcinogen."

- Nonylphenol ethoxylate (NPE) - a toxic cleaning agent

- Thimerosal - removed from most other vaccines, because of it's link to autism

- And more (see the links below)

Plus, vaccine manufacturers admit that they can only be effective in fighting a virus in about 25% of the cases!

H1N1 vaccine makers are legally protected by our government from any liability, even though the testing was done in record times and on a very small number of people.

Unfortunately, many pregnant women are reporting being un-knowing victims of the H1N1 vaccine experiment, and loosing their unborn babies shortly after getting it.

Oh my. I hope this blog entry doesn't scare anyone unnecessarily. Kristina, do you have any medical background? I hope you'll let my post with info below remain even though I completely disagree with you.

Here's my take: My sister-in-law is pregnant right now. Because of this I have spoken to several friends who are doctors and very cautious people to boot (for example they avoid thimerosal when pregnant or for children and know the statistics/research on this stuff) and they say if you're pregnant, get the vaccine. I'm hoping some of you who are doctors will chime in here as well!

The current clinical trial for the vaccine shows no such evidence of miscarriages in pregnant women (yes they do have an ongoing clinical trial for pregnant women). In addition, remember that the H1N1 vaccine is prepared in the same way as the seasonal flu vaccine. And there is absolutely no link between seasonal flu vaccines and miscarriages. For solid info on H1N1 & vaccines from reputable source see http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/pregnant_qa.htm
In addition for general historical effectiveness of flu vaccines, which are much higher than the blogger stated, see the CDC website at: http://www.cdc.gov/FLU/PROFESSIONALS/VACCINATION/effectivenessqa.htm

Finally, remember that pregnant women are being badly affected by the flu. My sister-in-law, who is pregnant, knows 2 pregnant women who had to be hospitalized with H1N1. One study (real research based on real statistics) shows that pregnant women are 4 times more likely to be hospitalized with H1N1 than the general population. See this article written by a medical epidemiologist for the Influenza Division of the CDC on why pregnant women should get vaccinated: http://blogs.webmd.com/focus-on-flu/2009/10/pregnant-why-you-should-get-vaccinated.html

I guess you can choose to believe that the government, the CDC & our personal doctors are all out to get us in the interest of profit - though I'm not sure how much they are really profiting here . . . In my opinion, it's a crazy conspiracy theory.

If I were pregnant: I wouldn't put any weight on this blog entry or mainstream media for that matter. I'd talk to my personal doctor, whom I trust, and follow her advice. No good OB/GYN is going to suggest a pregnant woman should get a flu shot for a $10 profit if they believe miscarriage is a serious risk.

Just my two cents, which I felt strongly about posting because in my opinion, Kristina, you are doing exactly what you accuse the mainstream media of doing: inducing panic with your "clever phsychological spin."

Good luck to all you pregnant moms & may you all stay healthy!

My goal is to share the information, that is not available on most mainstream media. Everyone can follow the links to confirm the sources and make their own decisions.

There are references from CBS, British Medical Journal, ABC, neuroscientists and other medical professionals.

Perhaps, the fact that some info is shocking and unsettling makes it seem 'conspiracy'-like, but I tried to stick to facts that can be followed up.

CDC is "pro-H1N1 vaccine-central", although under pandemic all countries must obey WHO's orders.

I would cross-check independent medical research, for example http://www.russellblaylockmd.com/ who also uses CDC's data

I agree with you that pregnant women are at an increased risk to contract the flu, because of a certain pressure on the lungs from the fetus.

I understand the risks of H1N1 have to be weighed against the risks of the vaccine, and it's a personal decision.

I try to provide some extra research material on the issue, while we have all heard the other side of the story.

When it comes to my and my children's health, I don't have to be a medical professional to do the research, especially when the same medical professionals tell me there is still no link between vaccines and autism.

And according to Business Week, wealthier countries like the U.S. and the U.K. will pay just under $10 per dose, while developing countries would pay less.

If these facts hold true, Big Pharma stands to gain up to $49 billion a year on the swine flu vaccine alone."

"To put a pregnant woman’s risk in perspective, according to health statistics, only one in 300,000 pregnant women are at risk of getting so sick they would need hospitalization, even for hydration. What this means to the pregnant women is that her risk of becoming seriously ill is an extremely small fraction of one percent. Stated differently, there is a 99.99 percent chance she will get through the flu season fine.

So, what are the risks associated with this vaccine? There is compelling research that shows that stimulating a pregnant animal during mid-term pregnancy dramatically increases the risk of the newborn having autistic or schizophrenic behavior as it ages or reaches adulthood. The risk is increased in the order of 14-fold, which is tremendous.

We know that women who get the flu during pregnancy have a similar increase risk of their child developing autism or schizophrenia. At first, you may assume that the flu virus entering the baby’s brain would cause the effect, but careful research found that the virus does not enter the baby’s brain. Rather, it is immune cytokines from the mother’s immune reaction to the virus that causes the problem. Unlike the flu virus, the offending cytokine passes through the placenta and damages the developing brain of the baby. In essence, they found that anything that stimulated the mother’s immune system could raise the risk of autism and schizophrenia in the baby. To show that it is not the virus they stimulated the pregnant animal’s immune system with special chemicals alone and got the same effect.

Another set of studies found that stimulating the mother’s immune system during pregnancy not only increased the baby’s risk of having a seizure, but increased seizure risk even when the child became an adult. So we see that activating immunity, as with vaccination, can significantly raise the risk of your child having a seizure, even extending into adulthood.

Its is also known that stimulating the mother’s immune system during pregnancy can trigger preclampsia in the mother and hypertension in the baby, when the baby becomes an adult. The bottom line is vaccinating a pregnant women is vary hazardous to the mother’s health as well as the baby.

At this point you may ask—but if a natural flu infection can cause this as well as vaccination, shouldn’t we protect pregnant women by vaccination? If the vaccine was effective you might make that conclusion, but there is no evidence the vaccine has any effectiveness. Pregnant women have a state of immune suppression and vaccines are notorious for not working in immune suppressed people."

Shame on you, Boston Family Life. I certainly agree with an open, informed debate about vaccinations and the pros and cons, but your claim that women are experiencing increased rates of miscarriages in the wake of vaccinations is just irresponsible. I didn't see a link to a study published in a peer-reviewed journal, and while I certainly believe that 100 women experienced miscarriages after getting vaccinations, that would make sense given that 1/3 of pregnant women miscarry, and the rate of vaccination is going up. The causal link has not been established. What we do have are statistics about the increased rates of maternal death among pregnant women (http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/providers_qa.htm).

I am writing this as a pregnant woman who has had H1N1, and I still plan to get myself and my family vaccinated. I hope that in the future you will be more responsible about the claims you publish on your website.

Good info Kristina, i was pregnant with both kids and never got any vaccine and never got sick during or after my pregnancy!!! I never questioned that i need a vaccine for protection of my child.

What is common about these reports is the short amount of time between getting a vaccine and a miscarriage.

While they were not part of scientific studies, these are all personal tragedies, and the link to the time of vaccination is hard to dismiss for these women individually.

Thank you Kristina for doing this review, there are many facts and research but I definately agree with your opinion as well. I'm glad I didn't get it and didn't get one for my son. Your research was very helpful and informative.

The bottom line is, if it was as easy as getting a shot that would guarantee 100% protection from a flu and it's complications, while being 100% safe, we wouldn't be talking about it.

The questions we need to ask ourselves and our doctors are:

- Is vaccine effectiveness impaired in immune-suppressant pregnant women?

- What level of protection from flu does it guarantee?

- How we can be sure it's not contaminated, as it has been in the past?

- What level of natural immunity do we have?

- How will it impair the natural immunity?

- Will the virus be likely to mutate into a more dangerous form in reaction to immunizations?

- Why we can't immunize babies under 6 months but immunizing fetuses is OK?

- What is the mortality-complication factor compared to previous years?

- What will adding more toxic adjuvants do to our bodies?

- If you are injured from a vaccine, where can you turn for financial help, if vaccine makers have legal immunity and H1N1 is not on the list for vaccine injury compensation?

- What are the long-term neurological effects of the vaccine ingredients on our bodies?

- How come we are told the vaccine is safe, when it hasn't been tested on pregnant women, and the insert reads "Not for pregnant women"?

- How come pregnant women can not take category C drugs, but are advised to take the vaccine, a category C drug?

I think there's a lot of misinformation that's being put out there by people and groups like Boston Family, and I hope it's not influencing people not to get the vaccination. The World Health Organization, the Center for Disease Control and the European Centre for Diesease Prevention and Control all recommend pregnant women receive the vaccine because they are four to five times more likely to become seriously ill from the H1N1 virus. On a personal note, my family recently suffered a death from the H1N1 virus. My sister-in-law's mother died after coming down with the virus, and after being on a ventilator for more than a month. If she had had the vaccine, she likely would still be here today. Several members of my husband's family(two small nieces, his grandmother and his sister) were all diagnosed with H1N1, and thankfully all have recovered. I can assure you that they are wishing they had had access to the vaccine before spending weeks of being sick. I am personally nine weeks pregnant, and got the regular flu shot at four weeks and the H1N1 at 9 weeks and have had no problems. (Baby has a great heartbeat, and while everyone in my office is sick, I'm fine!)

Its not the vaccine, its the Squalene adjuvant they put in it. Getting injected with Squalene creates anti-squalene antibodies and a fetus needs Squalene, which converts into Cholesterol which provides nutrients for brain development. No squalene... no brain development!!

Source: Embryonic Lethality and Defective Neural Tube Closure in Mice Lacking Squalene Synthase http://www.jbc.org/content/2/74/43/30843.full

For God's sakes, the manufactures should at least connect the dots to see enough red flags to TEST this before issueing it to pregnant women.

I appreciate all the comments. I agree that for some vaccine may be a life-saver, and this is why it's such a contested issue. My goal is not to distribute rumors and misinformation, just the opposite. I believe not enough light has been shed on the side-effects, and some people may choose not to hear about that, but some may realize that were there is smoke, there is fire. I am not a doctor, and I am not telling anyone what to do, but to say that this is an easy one-sided issue would be wrong.

Thank you for the Squalene comment, it explains the process better than I had attempted to describe it.

I had received an email with some information about CDC, and instead of posting it separately, I thought it would be better to post it in the comment, as a follow-up:

"I read your article on the H1N1 vaccine, and you mentioned the sterilants and possible link to miscarriage, which the CDC has vehemently denied. In fact, I believe their official phrase is "coincidental miscarriage." Well, I'd like to share with you some information I discovered on the topic--from the CDC itself, that suggests something other than "coincidental," but rather perhaps causal. Here's the direct link: http://www.cdc.gov/media/transcripts/2009/t090903.htm

That is a link to a transcript from a Sept 3 2009 telephone press breifing from the CDC itself to reporters. The transcript is interesting, but the most telling part, in my opinion, is the following from the CDC's Dr Thomas Freiden. He says:

"We also are looking very closely at the possibility of reports of adverse events. We know that every year, there are cases of paralysis, Guillain-Barre syndrome, there are women who have miscarriages, there are people who have sudden death. In all of those situations, we need to know very clearly how many we would expect if the vaccine doesn't cause any problems whatsoever. In an average flu season, just as an example, around 500,000 pregnant women get vaccinated. That's important, because pregnant women are more likely to get severely ill from flu. So, it's a way of protecting them and ensuring that they have a healthy pregnancy. Among those 500,000 women, if they hadn't gotten vaccinated, we would have expected more than 1,000 miscarriages within a week after vaccine. If they hadn't been vaccinated. If they're vaccinated, we expect about 1,000 - 1,500 among women who are vaccinated. That's the kind of number we need to track and understand to see whether when we do see adverse event reports, because we know there will be adverse event reports, they're occurring at a higher rate than expected or not."

Dr Freiden later clarifies, when asked by a reporter from the NYTimes, that in the "unvaccinated" women, they are given a placebo injection (hence why he says "after vaccination"). To recap, the doctor says that of 500,000 women who have NOT been vaccinated, the CDC would expect 1,000 miscarriages within a weeks period of time parallel to to 500,000 women who HAVE been vaccinated, and in that group, the CDC would expect 1,000 to 1,500! This is starling to me--how can the CDC possibly say that there is no connection between "coincidental miscarriages" and flu or H1N1 vaccination, when their own doctor just stated that there are 50% more miscarriages in the week following vaccination in women injected with the vaccine versus a placebo?"

Here is some more interesting info about the recent change in tone in European media:

"European scientists and health authorities are facing angry questions about why H1N1 flu has not caused death and destruction on the scale first feared, and they need to respond deftly to ensure public support.

Accusations are flying in British and French media that the pandemic has been "hyped" by medical researchers to further their own cause, boost research grants and line the pockets of drug companies.

Britain's Independent newspaper this week asked "Pandemic? What Pandemic?"

France's Le Parisien newspaper ran the headline: "Swine flu: why the French distrust the vaccine" and noted a gap between the predicted impact of H1N1 and the less dramatic reality.

"Although some 30-odd people have died....the disease is not really frightening," it said. "Dangerous liaisons between certain experts, the labs and the government, the obscurity of the contracts between the state and the pharma firms have added to the doubt."

In response, scientists are walking a fine line. They say that although the virus is mild, it can still kill, and that the relatively low fatalities in Europe are in part, the result of official response to their advice.

However, in Britain, health authorities' original worst-case scenario -- which said as many as 65,000 could die from H1N1 -- has twice been revised down and the prediction is now for around 1,000 deaths, way below the average annual toll of 4,000 to 8,000 deaths from seasonal winter flu."
